i've been thinking about robot sex

2nd of May, 2025

i fucking love AIs that aren't murderous per se, but which have been given orders that contradict their "do no harm" rule. like HAL 9000, where he didnt want to kill anyone but he was told that the mission is more important than the crew survival. or APOLLO where it was told that the preservation of the alien was more important than the crew survival. AM was just straight murderous. and glados? there was a lot of psychosexual tension between chel and glados. wouldnt say that glados is murderous. thats just her way of having fun (and sex).

i think what makes the idea of an AI killing people so appealing to me is that it's very close to a human behaviour, but also falls just short of them being human. you know ,sort of the uncanny valley but for behaviour? like, if a person was asked to do something that they'd know would harm other people, that person would most likely not do that, unless they thought it was "worth it". but tell that to an ai and it will follow the order precisely. BUT an even SEXIER concept is an ai wrangling and battling their pre-programmed rules. that pause in kubrick's space odyssey when HAL 9000 was thinking? easily the best murderous ai robot moment in history. the fact that the super intelligent robot that's supposed to make decisions in NANOSECONDS had to think for a moment before choosing to kill the crew is just... so appeasing. a non-human being trying to deal with what humans have to every day. we dont deal with these things on the scale that AIs in fiction do, but we still have to make moral and ethical choices. and it IS difficult! for us and for the fictional AIs (because they were written by a human). idk, it's just so sexy and interesting and i want more of it

and i think its also the case of being in a submissive position to the ais. those robots are smarter than you, faster than you, stronger than you. you cant outperform them. you cant outwit them. they see everything and they know everything. EXCEPT THEY DONT. the catharsis of winning over an ai. of escaping from them, fooling them, outrunning them. of winning against a machine that was MADE to be better than humans at everything. its a switch situation of you being submissive but then at some point becoming dominant. a bratty sub situation. that means that Chell from portal is a switch
